TM NET LATEST UPDATES 15 JAN 2008 ON THE NEW INCOMING & OUTGOING POP3 EMAIL SETTING Print E-mail
IF YOU HAVE PROBLEM SENDING AND RECEIVING EMAIL VIA OUTLOOK EXPRESS, MS OUTLOOK OR OTHER 3rd PARTY EMAIL APPLICATION. PLEASE READ ON THIS ARTICLE.

According to the TM Net Latest News, Telekom Malaysia Berhad is blocking all SMTP traffic or port 25 for all out going emails from dynamic IP addresses. Due to the spamming activities by a small group of users, many anti-spam organizations have blacklisted a large number of IP addresses from TM’s network.

As a result, many TM Net users unable to send emails from Outlook Express/MS Outlook or any POP3 mail application (Webmail are not effected), for this we would like to inform to all Corporate.com.my client (TMnet And Streamyx Subscriber Only) to change the SMTP Port to new port 587 (For Linux Hosting Package) or port 587 (For Windows Hosting Package).

HOWEVER IF YOUR EMAIL OUTGOING AND RECEIVING IS STILL WORKING NORMALLY, IT IS UP TO YOUR TECHNICAL ADMINISTRATOR WHETHER TO CHANGE TO THE NEW SETTING.

TMnet has just announce that with effective from 15th January 2008, TMNet will block Outbound SMTP traffic or port 25 for all out going e-mails from dynamic IP addresses as part of its Anti Spam activities. This affects most of the Streamyx Broadband users in Malaysia. This will be done in phases, starting in the Klang Valley area before being implemented nationwide.

Therefore, please check and make a changes to your POP3 Mail Application as below instructions:

Outlook Express/MS Outlook (POP3):
TMnet And Streamyx Subscribers Only:

Incoming Mail Server: mail.your_domain_name.com
Outgoing Mail Server: mail.your_domain_name.com

Incoming Mail Server Port: 110
Outgoing Mail Server Port: 587

For security reason, You must enable SMTP Authentication

Others ISP:

For both incoming and outgoing mail please use:

mail.your_domain_name.com

Incoming Mail Server Port: 110
Outgoing Mail Server Port: 25 or 587 (Linux Hosting Package) and 587 (Windows Hosting Package)(If your ISP block port 25)

For security reason, You must enable SMTP Authentication

Effective 3 December 2007, TMnet will block OUTBOUND Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) traffic or port 25 for all out going e-mails from dynamic IP addresses. Therefore, please check and make a changes to your POP3 Mail Application as below instructions:

Incoming Mail Server: mail.your_domain_name.com
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp-proxy.tm.net.my
Incoming Mail Server Port: 110
Outgoing Mail Server Port: 25
You must disable SMTP Authentication

Others ISP:
For both incoming and outgoing mail please use:
mail.your_domain_name.com
Incoming Mail Server Port: 110
Outgoing Mail Server Port: 25 or 26 (Linux Hosting Package) and 587 (Windows Hosting Package)(If your ISP block port 25)

Outlook Express:
Please click on Tools --> Accounts --> Properties --> Advanced and please change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) to port 26 for Linux Hosting Package and port 587 for Windows Hosting Package

Microsoft Outlook:
Please click on Tools --> Email Accounts --> View or change existing email account --> Change --> More Settings --> Advanced and change the Outgoing server (SMTP) to port 26 for Linux Hosting Package and port 587 for Windows Hosting Package
